For years, I have received questions from viewers about food and aspects of health. I have very much enjoyed helping people in this way. But in the last 4 months, I have had an increasing number of enquiries requesting my assistance in health coaching, particularly for problems such as obesity, digestive problems and inflammatory disease. I am currently providing this service to 4 individuals.
This takes the form of one or more Skype interviews, each for approximately one hour, with follow-up by email and/or Whatsapp. In the meetings, we discuss various aspects of diet and lifestyle. Although my clients have different goals, they all share the goal of a healthy lifestyle and they need encouragement and guidance in order to achieve it.
In all cases, my current clients have made rapid progress, and they look and feel much better as a result of these sessions. It has been a wonderful experience to be able to really be specific with individuals on the important points of diet and health, and to see such great results. It is important to remember that food is medicine, but that only real food is medicine, and the medicinal effect comes when we get our diet, sleep and exercise in a balance which is sustainable in the long-term. Once this is achieved, health is effortless.
I believe health coaching is important due to all the confusion regarding food and health in our global society today. For example, the common misunderstanding that the solution for weight loss is to eat less. This is wrong, as some foods cause metabolic dysfunction which is itself the cause of obesity. Therefore, the solution to weight loss is to eat enough of the good foods (this avoids any metabolic dysfunction and allows the metabolism to normalise). And it is as simple as that!
